Big Rivers: Patterns and Applications in Your Watershed
A Grosvenor Grant award from the National
Geographic Society’s Education Foundation
The Missouri Geographic Alliance has received a grant award from the National Geographic Society’s Education Foundation which has allowed Missouri teachers to construct a standards-based geographic student project that asses the health of their local watershed and produces environmental awareness. Students have learned to gather ecological data focusing on their local watershed and the environmental factors that influence it. Students have shared their project results including watershed maps, data, and geographic impact statements through community presentations and now this site. Big Rivers: Patterns and Applications in Your Watershed is adaptable for students in grades 4-12, and we hope these projects will give incentive for further projects in Missouri classrooms. Contact the alliance office for further information at 417-873-6338 or esturgess@drury.edu.
